Valuation tribunals are independent bodies that hear appeals against:

  • non-domestic rating
  • completion notices
  • council tax valuation
  • drainage assessments
  • council tax liability
  • penalties for failure to provide requested information.


The Valuation Tribunal Service (VTS)
provides the services needed to support the work of valuation tribunals in England, in particular:

  • accommodation
  • staff (including clerks to tribunals)
  • information technology
  • equipment
  • training for members and staff
  • general advice about procedure

The VTS Chief Executive’s Office is in London, but most staff are located in the valuation tribunal offices around the country. Location Details .
